One liner

“a professional is someone who does his job eventhough he doesn’t feel like doing it”

Excuse me for the mood, but I’m just so bored and dull at work. I don’t seem to be happy in my worklife, unlike before. I don’t believe this phrase then, but as I continue to work under a management and a boss that doesn’t give weight in what I do, I feel my life pass by monotonously.

I know there is something better for me and I will get it. I will not stay long like this.

My dad’s birthday

Today is my dad’s birthday.

Last Sunday night, my brother, my girlfriend and I was planning a surprise for my dad but my dad blew the surprise when he said to us last night that to go home early and we will eat outside. TSK! Just when we thought we, we are going to surprise him with our own treat for him on some fine dining.

Oh well, so we cope with the situation and just prepared a gift instead. I wish he would be happy still and somewhat lessen his sadness on my mom being not here.

Happy Birthday dad!  “I don’t know what your age anymore since you stopped counting yourself” You did a good job on molding two good sons. I promise we will always be here for you and mom.

I miss the days

I miss the days when work was like play.

Nowadays, work have been a pain in the neck. Litereally and figuratively. Yes, I find joy in working but the order giver is such an a88wipe. Yesterday we have a dance showdown contest in the office. It was inter-department. Then there he was, ruining everybody’s day, form mornin till dawn he gives rush jobs. It’s like he hates it when someone, or everybody but him will have a good day, even just “a good time

How you react..

Discover the 90/10 Principle.

It will change your life (at least the way you react to situations).

What is this principle? 10% of life is made up of what happens to you. 90% of life is decided by how you react.

What does this mean? We really have no control over 10% of what happens to us. We cannot stop the car from breaking down. The plane will be late arriving, which throws our whole schedule off. A driver may cut us off in traffic.

We have no control over this 10%. The other 90% is different. You determine the other 90%.

How? ……….By your reaction.

You cannot control a red light. But you can control your reaction. Don’t let people fool you; YOU can control how you react.

Let’s use an example.

You are eating breakfast with your family. Your daughter knocks over a cup of coffee onto your business shirt. You have no control over what just happened.

What happens next will be determined by how you react.

You curse.

You harshly scold your daughter for knocking the cup over. She breaks down in tears. After scolding her, you turn to your spouse and criticize her for placing the cup too close to the edge of the table. A short verbal battle follows. You storm upstairs and change your shirt. Back downstairs, you find your daughter has been too busy crying to finish breakfast and get ready for school. She misses the bus.

Your spouse must leave immediately for work. You rush to the car and drive your daughter to school. Because you are late, you drive 40 miles an hour in a 30 mph speed limit.

After a 15-minute delay and throwing $60 traffic fine away, you arrive at school. Your daughter runs into the building without saying goodbye. After arriving at the office 20 minutes late, you find you forgot your briefcase. Your day has started terrible. As it continues, it seems to get worse and worse. You look forward to coming home.

When you arrive home, you find small wedge in your relationship with your spouse and daughter.

Why? …. Because of how you reacted in the morning.

Why did you have a bad day?
A) Did the coffee cause it?
B) Did your daughter cause it?
C) Did the policeman cause it?
D) Did you cause it?
The answer is “D”.
You had no control over what happened with the coffee. How you reacted in those 5
seconds is what caused your bad day.

Here is what could have and should have happened.

Coffee splashes over you. Your daughter is about to cry. You gently say, “Its ok honey, you just need to be more careful next time”. Grabbing a towel you rush upstairs. After grabbing a new shirt and your briefcase, you come back down in time to look through the window and see your child getting on the bus. She turns and waves. You arrive 5 minutes early and cheerfully greet the staff. Your boss comments on how good the day you are having.

Notice the difference?

Two different scenarios. Both started the same. Both ended different.

Why?

Because of how you REACTED.

You really do not have any control over 10% of what happens. The other 90% was determined by your reaction.

Here are some ways to apply the 90/10 principle. If someone says something negative about you, don’t be a sponge. Let the attack roll off like water on glass. You don’t have to let the negative comment affect you!

React properly and it will not ruin your day. A wrong reaction could result in losing a friend, being fired, getting stressed out etc.

How do you react if someone cuts you off in traffic? Do you lose your temper? Pound on the steering wheel? A friend of mine had the steering wheel fall off) Do you curse? Does your blood pressure skyrocket? Do you try and bump them?

WHO CARES if you arrive ten seconds later at work? Why let the cars ruin your drive?

Remember the 90/10 principle, and do not worry about it.

You are told you lost your job.

Why lose sleep and get irritated? It will work out. Use your worrying energy and time into finding another job.

The plane is late; it is going to mangle your schedule for the day. Why take outpour frustration on the flight attendant? She has no control over what is going on.

Use your time to study, get to know the other passenger. Why get stressed out? It will just make things worse.
Now you know the 90-10 principle. Apply it and you will be amazed at the results. You will lose nothing if you try it. The 90-10 principle is incredible. Very few know and apply this principle.

The result?

Millions of people are suffering from undeserved stress, trials, problems and heartache. We all must understand and apply the 90/10 principle.

It CAN change your life!!! Enjoy….

Today is a good day.. not because something good happen early in the morning but because today is friday. Last day of work! wooooohooooo!

This past weeks have been toxic, voluminous paper works from school and in the office. Although I still have classes tommorrow saturday from 1pm to 7pm, I need a breather from work-office-home routine.

Timely one liner for me; Get outside everyday. Miracles are waiting everywhere.

Photo blog 1

I have been planning to do a photo blog but when I try, I end up not doing it. Having no time or undecided about how to present it hinders me. So now, I did a blog even though it is not my best, just to get the habit of doing it. Sometimes the first step is the hardest and what the heck, here it is.

These photos were from my cousins wedding dated 21 June 2008. The wedding was held in Don Bosco Church in Makati, while the reception was in the Coconut Palace in CCP complex. (too bad it rained, it should have been more interesting if the reception was outside next to the pool)

Hero’s Birthday

June 19, 2008

Today is the 147th birthday celebration of Dr. Jose Rizal, our national. If he is still alive right now, maybe he would still fight for the freedom of Filipinos. (exept that he is 147 years old)  Times are changing, eventhough we are no longer slaves of foreign corruptors we are still slaves of corruptors. Some have tried to be the new Rizal, but up to now the corruptors are feasting with the richness of the Philippines.

Kudos to Dr. Jose Rizal and to the new Rizals emerging.

Post Neo Buying

I have been using my laptop for almost 2 months now, and I can say I got what I have paid for. For me it is worth it. Since it is very lightweight and small I can bring daily even if I am riding public vehicles. To help you decide, list the reasons what you want and do not want in a laptop.

For me:

1) I like color yellow (very important for me, since it inspires me to use my laptop)

2) Small and portable

3) Acceptable performance (of course you can’t compare this to HP, Sony, Mac but I can live with it)

4) all in one (multi-tasking, it has webcam, mic, dvd+rw, built-in card reader) this add-ons are just standard i.e. the speaker is not load enough for you to watch a movie, maybe that’s why they have free headphones w/mic

5) Cheap -since the technology is so fast that gadgets are also easily fast depreciating, I choose cheaper notebook like neo. (With the price of 29k, I am very satisfied with it)

For the negatives:

1) It is quick to heat up

2) Small screen -this is a subjective con.

3) Noisy when reading a disk -I do not know yet if this is due to the cd/dvd quality.

Just a tip: PCXpress is the cheapest and trusted pc retail store I know; they have several branches in malls and in Gilmore. They can slash the price of neo vivid2120 up to 29k if you pay cash (that is 4k difference in other stores)
